David McGee's Daily Devotional

Isaiah 29:16
Surely you have things turned around! Shall the potter be esteemed as the clay; For shall the thing made say of him who made it, 'He did not make me'? Or shall the thing formed say of him who formed it, 'He has no understanding'?
NKJV

It's awe-inspiring to consider that the same God who spoke the cosmos into being is also responsible for your unique features and characteristics. The One who effortlessly controls the vast oceans all fashioned your eyes, nose, hands, and feet. Personally, I find this thought to be incredibly humbling. It's reassuring to know that the Creator of all things intentionally made me just the way I am, and even more reassuring to know that He continues to guide me toward becoming more like Jesus.

This process can be challenging and chaotic as it involves a lot of molding, cutting, and carving. However, in the hands of the Master, we are transformed into a masterpiece. By fully surrendering ourselves to God, He can take hardened clay and breathe new life into it through His Word and Spirit. He then begins to shape us in the likeness of His Son, removing any excess clay that weighs us down. As we are prepared for His service, He inscribes His name upon us, for we now belong to the Master. If you are facing hardships or trials, take comfort in knowing that the Father is molding you into a vessel He can use. Although it may be challenging, we can trust in His love and wisdom.

Life Lesson: We are the clay and God is the potter

Dear God,
Thank You for the forgiveness of sins through Jesus. Thank You for saving me and changing my life. Lord, I pray that You would take this broken ball of clay and make it new. Mold my life into what You desire. Help me to see the hardships in my life as the Master's hands shape me more into the likeness of Jesus. Use my life for Your world and Your glory.
In Jesus' name. Amen.

Living to tell what He died to say,
