David McGee's Daily Devotional

John 21:12
Jesus said to them, "Come and eat breakfast."
NKJV

What made this moment special? Was it the fish? Was it the fire? Or... was it Jesus? We often get so distracted with things in life that we misplace Jesus. I don't mean we literally stick Him in the wrong drawer or drop Him under the car seat. What I mean is He loses that place of prominence He should have in our lives... our priorities get out of whack.

Our God loves us so much that He wants to bless us. He also wants to rescue us from our selfish thinking. When you begin to sit in His presence and follow Him, well... as the song says 'the things of this world will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.' Beloved, may you never again be cheaply satisfied. May the things of this world never satisfy your spiritual hunger. May you be content with no less than following the King of Kings. May you only be satisfied with serving Him who served us first. May you show forth the love and grace you have received and present it to a world without hope, until the whole world hears.

Life Lesson: The best things in life aren't things.

Dear Lord,
You are the Lord of my life. Please forgive me for times when I have allowed other things to take the place of Your Lordship in my life. Please rescue me from my selfish thinking and allow me to present Your love and grace to the world.
I pray this in Jesus' name, Amen.

Living to tell what He died to say,
